How to Keep Your Underarms Hair Free (Aloe Vera Cold Wax Review )

2:00 PM

It's summer time already and who wants to wear their bikinis while their armpits are hairy? NO ONE. :) Hairy armpits are one of the beauty struggles of women except for those who had laser already. But that's expensive. Most of us resort into razor shaving but that's a no-no because it darkens our underarms. Another alternative is shaving using shaving creams, but the thing is the hair grows back in just few days. One of the best ways in keeping our underarms hair free is through waxing. You can go to waxing salons for a hot-wax but if you're not into something "hot", you can opt for a cold wax and do it at home.

Aloe Vera Cold Wax has been a trend lately and I've been dying to try it out. A few weeks ago, my favourite online shop has it in stock.

What's inside the Aloe Vera Cold Wax

It is dark green in color and  has a cellophane cover that probably protects it from spilling when the temperature is hot. It melts on hot temperature because it is made out of sugar! The lid cover is a "twist type", (I don't what to call it) which secures the contents of the tub. It fills almost the whole container and some of the contents are melting (i forgot and placed it in a hot area) already so I decided to put it in the fridge for around 5 mins. :D

Smelling it

Forgive my face but this Aloe Vera Cold Wax smells really nice even with the cellophane cover. It smells sugary that it makes me want to eat it. It smells like candy!

The Aloe Vera Cold Wax and the Veet's plastic (you can use flat wooden stick)

I peeled the cellophane cover. Because I don't have a wooden stick  for waxing, I used the plastic that I got from Veet. The consistency is very sticky and it is very hard to scoop out the contents.  I scooped it slowly until I got this amount below.

The Aloe Vera Cold Wax after scooping
Because it's very hard to scoop out, I decided to settle for little amount at a time. For one armpit, it took me twice the amount of the contents above to remove all the hair. The hair should be around 2-3mm in length for the cold wax to hold properly. Below is a step by step guide on how I did it.

Step 1: Prepare.

Get a mirror enough for you to see yourself waxing. I would also advice that the room where you'll be doing the waxing is a little cooler because as I said, this cold wax easily melts. Also prepare your underarms. Make sure it is clean and free from other chemicals.

Step 2: Waxing

Spreading the cold wax and after pulling it.

Scoop out small amount of the cold wax (like the picture above) using your flat wooden stick or you can use the one from Veet. :D Don't use your hands please! Aside from the fact that it's gross, it won't work. Now that you have that little gummy in your hand, spread it as flat as possible in your underarms. Let it sit for around 10 seconds, just enough for the cold wax to hold the hair. Then suddenly and quickly pull it upward. For first timers in waxing, you may want to prepare yourself before doing that. There are noticeable redness after pulling it but it's not itchy or painful. Keep doing it until your underarms are hair free. You may notice that the aloe vera cold wax becomes very slimy, you have to put it down for a while until it hardens again.

The Hair that were trapped in the Wax
Don't mind my dirty glass window! :) You will know that you will need another amount of the cold wax when it's not able to pull some hair anymore.

Step 3. Cleaning

If there are other stubborn little hairs, you can pluck them. Wash your underarms with water to remove traces of the cold wax. I didn't use any soap, just plain water.

Before and After

I know I know, my underarm is not the best in the world because I shave when I'm in a hurry and  wants to wear a sleeveless. But this Aloe Vera Cold Wax is worth the money. I've waxed both my underarms and the tub (container) still looks full. As for its whitening capabilities, I will post an update soon because I know it doesn't happen overnight.

Pros:
  • It smells good.
  • It is cheap.
  • Tight lid.
  • Non-irritating
  • Does it's job (pulling hair)
Cons:
  • It can be a little messy when the wax starts melting

Should I recommend this product?

For those who are in a budget and wants hair free underarms for weeks, I definitely would recommend this Aloe Vera Cold Wax by ESME Organics. It actually takes 2 weeks+ before the hair starts growing. Compare to shaving which only remove the hair from the surface and darkens your underarms, this is really a better choice. This will be perfect for your summer escapades, no need to bring shaving paraphernalia.
